If you are transitioning a loved one to long-term home care, this is an ideal bed if you’re looking to purchase a medical bed at a fraction of the cost, not to mention it cuts out waste and extra costs of opting for long-term rental. At MedEquip Solutions, we are known for the sale of premium-quality hospital beds in Toronto and the GTA and feature both brand-new models and certified refurbished to accommodate any budget.

Is Buying Better Than Renting?

For Ontario families especially, “Buy vs. Rent” can be a matter of whether you will need long-term assistance.

  • The 6-Month Rule: If you think you will need the bed for longer than 6 months, the total price to rent is typically higher than a brand-new bed.
  • Total Hygiene: Purchasing guarantees users will be receiving a brand-new, never-used mattress—important for people with weakened immune systems.
  • Asset Value: The bed can be sold or donated to another family once it’s no longer needed, and you will lose much less money on the deal.

What to Consider on a Purchase of a Hospital Bed in Ontario

Before buying a medical bed in GTA, there are three key considerations you need to put into consideration:

Importance of the Mattress Being important as the bed

The average hospital-grade mattress gets the job done, but for extended use, pressure redistribution mattresses are ideal. These discourage bedsores (also known as pressure ulcers) by redistributing weight.

Clearance and Room Size

Make sure your Toronto room, or GTA home, has enough space. The average standard hospital bed is usually 36″ wide and 88″ long. You will also need a minimum of 2’ on each side for access to caregivers.

Protections (Side Rails and Trapeze)

You’ll require “half-length” rails (assist-only) or “full-length” rails for fall protection, depending on whether the patient is ambulatory.

We provide white glove delivery and installation in cities.
